Pandemic Porch-traits

Since COVID-19 shut down cities across the globe and across the country, we’ve seen several photographers documenting the outcome. Photos of once busy streets now empty, people wearing masks while running their daily errands, and portraits of our beloved front line workers like our nurses and EMTs.

We wanted to jump in on the fun and make the most of our time in quarantine so we decided to take part in the Front Porch Photo Challenge. We loved the idea of getting to see our friendly neighbor’s faces and take their pictures!

With families guaranteed to be together in the house, it made the perfect opportunity to document their quarantine experience, get a traditional family photo, or even dress up and have fun with it! We let our neighbors take lead of the creative direction.

So we geared up, carrying our equipment in our wagon, went from neighbor to neighbor (wearing our masks of course and staying more than 6ft away), and captured what we believe will be images and memories forever cherished.

We hope that our great neighbors treasure these images for many years to come, and that they remind them of the positive aspects and fond moments during the craziness.

After we photographed our neighbors, another near by neighborhood asked us to come and photograph their community! It was a great opportunity to get to know more families in our area and see their personalities come alive on camera. Here are some of our favorite “silly” shots from the day. Don’t worry they took some more “normal” images, but these are way better. ;)

And finally, we’ll leave you with a picture of our own little family porch-trait!
